Another hotel project is in the works in the Hudson Yards district, but this one sticks out. It’s a 740-foot hotel with a 3-dimensional, interlocking cube structure for its exterior walls. Curbed describes it as “Tetris-like.”
The name of the proposed hotel is Hudson Americano. Real estate developer Blackhouse Development is spearheading the project; Los Angeles-based architecture firm M-Rad created the design. The proposed building is currently in the conceptual phase; many of the details of the project remain unknown or undecided.
One such detail is the proposed hotel’s location. Blackhouse is currently fighting for ownership rights for another Hudson Yards project called Hudson Rise; whether this project is a replacement for the Hudson Rise project or a separate development has not been confirmed.
The current plans include 160 hotel suites, 15 luxury condos, an astonishing three floors of spas and two of swimming pools, and an entertainment space with spectacular views of the city. Should it come to pass, Hudson Americano could become a coveted destination.
