More than 45 chefs gathered at the Waterfront last week for a tasting event hosted by New York magazine.

New York Taste, presented by Citi, took place on Nov. 10. Attendees feasted on delicacies from some of New York’s top chefs—“all you can eat, drink, and savor from more than 40 of New York’s most celebrated restaurants and mixology bars,” the event page boasts.

Notable chefs included—among many others–Galen Zamarra, an award-winning chef who also owns restaurants Mas (farmhouse) and Almanac; Justin Smillie of Upland; and Shaun Hergatt, executive chef of Juni, which has won numerous awards for its high-quality menu and fresh ingredients.

The culinary offerings exhibited exceptional variety: choices such as meatballs and ramen rubbed shoulders with exotic-sounding dishes such as Wagyu tataki with truffled ponzu. The chefs are personally invited by New York’s culinary editor in order to ensure a diverse mix of New York’s finest tastes.

The event is an annual tradition dating back to 1998. New York partners with food rescue organization City Harvest, which receives a portion of the proceeds each year.
