Two Hell’s Kitchen restaurants were temporarily shut down last week after the Health Department found evidence of rats and roaches, DNAinfo reported.

Vintner Café, an Italian eatery on Ninth Ave., suffered the plague of rats. The Health Department temporarily barred the restaurant from serving food on Oct. 23, but allowed it to re-open on the 26th after it passed another inspection. A manager is reported to have claimed that the rats were not near any food and had only inhabited a storage area.

The Health Department will conduct follow-up inspections to ensure the facility remains rat-free.

McQuaids Public House, an Irish bar and restaurant, was temporarily shuttered for roaches. DNAinfo cited health department records that found three prior roach incidents at McQuaids within the last two years.

However, following subsequent inspections, the Health Department has allowed the restaurant to reopen with its grade pending.
