As we posted, the Sean Kelly Gallery was hosting the opening of ‘Agnosia, an Illuminated Ontology’ this past Friday evening. Visitors were also treated to the opening of Unique an exhibition of carefully selected Polaroid photographs taken between 1970 and 1975 by legendary American photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.
Conceptual New York (and London) based artist Joseph Kosuth (pictured above wearing the black hat) was on hand discussing his neon works and mingling with guests. Over forty of his works dating from 1965 to the present were installed, giving visitors a chance to see his interplay of the role of language and meaning in art, through his use of neon.
If you are in Hudson Yards area, make your way over here. Both exhibitions will be on display through December 19th.
Sean Kelly Gallery is located at 475 Tenth Avenue between 36th and 37th Streets in Midtown West (212-239-1181, skny.com). Admission is free.
