The Mets are headed to the World Series! Tickets to the game will be scarce (and expensive) so for those Yardies not lucky enough to ride the 7 Train of Many Colors to Willets Point, where will you go to watch the Series? DNAinfo has some ideas: yesterday, the site released a list of its top bar picks for Manhattan Mets fans. Here’s what came up.
- Foley’s NY Pub & Restaurant. A self-proclaimed “Irish Bar with a Baseball Attitude,” Foley’s walls are covered with baseball memorabilia, from autographed balls and game-worn jerseys to bobbleheads. And in case that doesn’t convince you they’re serious fans, it’s also the home of the Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame. Foley’s serves classic Irish bar food and boasts a comprehensive beer selection.
- Bedford Falls. No shortage of flatscreens here! Located on the Upper East Side, this one is a bit of a longer trip, but with 16 TV screens, you’re sure to catch the full game without craning your neck. Bedford Falls turns up the volume, too, so you’ll hear the cheers and the commentary—if you’re not cheering at the top of your lungs yourself.
- Boxers NYC. Boxers NYC calls itself the city’s premier gay sports bar. With a new 2-for-1 Happy Hour, pool tables, outside terraces, brick-oven pizza, and plasma screens, your life is about to be complete. Check out their locations in Chelsea or nearby Hell’s Kitchen.
- This Yardies personal choice will be Clyde Fraizer’s Fine Wine and Dine, a neighborhood staple located on 37th Street and 10th Avenue. The bar has some three dozen flat-screen TVs and great bartenders.
So pick a bar, put on your jersey, and get ready to cheer the Mets to victory!
