Basera Indian Bistro was temporarily shut down earlier this week for incurring 106 health code violations. Basera is located at 745 9th Avenue Between 50th & 51st Streets.

According to city records, violations include evidence of mice and flies, foods not refrigerated, employees touching food with their hands, and improperly washed food prep surfaces. Of the 106 violations, ten were labeled “critical” by the Health Department.

In the previous inspection in May, Basera received a “B” grade, but inspectors still listed evidence of mice and insufficient contamination precautions among its violations.

The restaurant has since reopened with its grade pending; health officials will assign a letter grade after re-inspection.
